Guest Reviews

I had my wedding at the 234 Winder on December 31st, 2009–New Year’s Eve! It was the best wedding ever (though I may seem biased)! Everything from the decor to the food to music was provided completely by Mona, the owner. She took care of me and my husband with ease. When we first walked into the Inn, I knew that that was the place I wanted to get married. Mona is truly a pro and handled every detail. It was the most memorable New Year’s Eve celebration that I’ve ever been too! For and intimate (and classy) wedding, 234 Winder St. is the place to beat!

My mom and I arrived we were treated like royalty. The owners, Mona and John, came out to the car to greet us (by name) upon arrival and our bags were up in our room where lunch was waiting, along with a chilled bottle of wine, before we even completed the tour of this historic B&B. The lunch provided and the snacks in the room were according to the questionnaire we had filled out in advance. Our suite was nothing short of amazing. The front room with a queen sized four poster bed right off of the bathroom was perfect as was the large rear bedroom with a king sized four poster bed along with vanity plus sink, and antique armoire.

Originally we didn’t know there was one in Detroit but were forced to think outside the box when we discovered that every hotel room in downtown Detroit was booked! But I’m glad that we stumbled on this place because it was very beautiful and very comfortable. Mona did everything in her power to make our stay nice, from providing snacks in our room refrigerator to offering us beer and lemonade on the porch. The house is steps from Comerica Park, and we had no trouble walking to the People Mover to get over to the Ren Cen for our anniversary dinner. Mona, the owner, was even nice enough to let us leave our car in her driveway for a few hours after we checked out so we could attend a ballgame. Would definitely stay there again.
